Reliability Technician

US Sugar Corporation Savannah, GA (Onsite) Full-Time

Job Description

This position is responsible for executing reliability-centered maintenance tasks such as lubricating equipment assets, managing onsite lubricant inventory and stocking, performing machine health inspections, and mechanical equipment thermography, according to onsite lubrication and equipment management program.

FUNCTIONS

Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions

• Knows, observes, and enforces all Standard Operating Procedures, safety procedures and rules, environmental practices and GMP guidelines.

• Visually inspects and listens to machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunctions.

• Performs routine lubrication activities such as greasing bearings, draining, cleaning and filling reservoirs, lubricating chain drives and changing lubricant in gearboxes and hydraulic systems.

• Maintains automated lubrication systems to ensure consistent relubrication to equipment assets.

• Ensures contamination control by maintaining breathers, filters and operating filter carts.

• Performs basic thermography and ultrasound routes to detect and report machine and equipment deficiencies.

• Manages onsite lubricant inventory by receiving lubricants, assisting suppliers in delivery, auditing lubricant levels and maintaining storage and dispensing equipment.

• Enters work performed on work orders and reports any discrepancies or conditions that require corrective, predictive or planned maintenance

• Collects, labels and mails lubricant samples for analysis and modifies equipment to facilitate sampling, filtration, and other proactive improvements.

• Performs 5S activities such as tagging critical equipment assets, associated lubricants, lubricant storage and delivery containers.

• Supports maintenance technicians by troubleshooting lubrication related issues.

• Cleans up area at the completion of maintenance and repair.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have positive results from Company-designated tests designed to measure basic skills, job skills, mechanical aptitude and/or other interests, skills, and characteristics.

Education/Professional Certifications/Licenses

The following are the basic qualifications:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

The following are the preferred qualifications:

• Associate Degree or equivalent from two-year technical school

• ICML - MLT Level 1 Certification or completion within the six months of placement.

Experience

The following are the basic qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years mechanical and hydraulic components experience required.

The following are the preferred qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in lubrication specific maintenance activities in an industrial setting.

• Proficient understanding of lubricant fundamentals such as viscosity, base oils, additives, thickener, compatibility, filter rating, relubrication frequencies etc.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (including any physical demands)

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

• Capability to perform basic mathematical functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages) for the purpose of interpreting alarms, calculating lubricant inventory and calculating relubrication quantities.

• While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions

• While performing the duties of this Job, the associate is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The associate is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme heat and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

• No supervisory responsibilities

Decision Making/Accountability

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
