Job Requirements of Mechanical Integrity Engineer:
Requirements:
- A Mechanical Engineering Degree from an accredited institution is required.
- The preferred candidate will have at least 5 years of related experience in a heavy manufacturing environment, similar to ours – Sugar, Oil/Gas, Power Plant, Chemicals, Pulp/Paper, bulk food, etc.).
- Expert knowledge of API 510, API 570, API 620, API 653, etc.
- A Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) or Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) with a very hands-on approach is a plus

Job Description and Responsibilities
ABOUT THE JOB: The primary role of the Mechanical Integrity Engineer is to manage the activities necessary to ensure that equipment/assets are designed, fabricated, installed, operated and maintained in a way that provides the desired performance in a safe, environmentally protected, and reliable fashion.
The M.I. Engineer will improve asset/capacity reliability through the elimination of repetitive failures, technical support of the maintenance function and the management of appropriate inspections and maintenance processes.
The M.I Engineer will apply her/his expertise in the areas of inspection and repair of pressure vessels, aboveground storage tanks, equipment reliability, corrosion, mechanics, in the effort of reducing capital and maintenance costs.
Act as an advisor to the production departments, providing proactive leadership, direction, single point accountability and technical expertise required to achieve and sustain optimum reliability, maintainability, and useful life for sugar manufacturing assets.
Essential Duties:
- Own the Mechanical Integrity program: develop inspection plans, manage NDT contractors, plan and coordinate the inspections with the departments of the manufacturing plant.
- Analyze the inspection reports, provide recommendations and develop repair plans for found deficiencies.
- Oversee the repair plan activities coordinating the efforts with the department teams.
- Establish corrosion rates based on inspection history.
- Perform Fitness-For-Service (FFS) assessments.
- Act as a site Subject Matter Expert (SME) for welding processes, welding procedures, welder qualifications, and metallurgical effects from welding.
- Act as a site SME for the design, maintenance, inspection, and mitigation practices to address external corrosion under insulation (CUI) of carbon and low alloy steels and external chloride stress corrosion cracking (ECSCC) of austenitic stainless steels.
- Maintain service documentation and other records to establish asset history.
- As an integral team member and in a hands-on manner, work closely with internal clients to find, progress and implement solutions to improve equipment reliability.
- Actively work toward the elimination/minimization of production losses associated with unplanned issues and of unplanned maintenance and capital expenditures.
- Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) following the company process.
- Provide Loss Elimination plans from RCA’s, ensure the plan’s approval and facilitate its implementation.
- Perform studies on equipment failures and present solution(s) to management. Prepare diagrams, drawings, charts, calculations and reports for defining reliability problems and recommending solutions.
- Manage reliability data, work order failure code analysis, maintenance of the asset hierarchy, Bills of Materials, technical library, etc.
- Develop and implement changes to equipment maintenance plans based on failure modes, historical data, reliability principles and best practices.
- Advise and provide training in and implement SAP PM Module (CMMS).
- Facilitate Equipment Criticality strategy formulation and ranking sessions.
- Conduct FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis).
